1000 Blank White Cards Wiki

Rule Cards are cards that modify the rules of the game, such as changing the object of the game, adding/taking away player abilities, or restricting certain kinds of cards from being played, etc. etc. Changing the rules allows the game to function as a Nomic, and allow for much more varied play than the initial game setup would suggest.

Global effects, like negating point values or changing turn actions, usually fall into this category.

Types of Rules[]

Unbreakable rules about gameplay[]

Many rules created may limit drawing, playing, or other gameplay actions. These rules cannot be broken without it being considered "cheating". Cards which limit the amount a player can draw or play, limits on the amount of points a card can give or take, limits on the amount of cards a player can hold in their hand, and limits on the number or function of rules on the table fall into this category.

Famous examples:

  • Draw 2, 3, 4, 5, 6... and so on.
  • Play 2, 3, 4... up to all of the cards in one's hand. Play -1 is not unheard of, it means "take a card off the table instead of playing, and place it in your hand". (Note: That card may be removed at any time, because it may be "un-played" by any player.)
  • Hand Limit/Minimum/Quota 0, 1, 2, 3, 4... which requires a certain amount of cards to be in your hand.
  • Object Limit 0, 1, 2, 3... which limits the amount of objects that are in front of a player at once.
  • 1000 Point Limit.
  • Rule Limit 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...

Easily broken rules[]

Rules such as "No saying the letter R" can be easily broken by players. Most of these rules have penalties attached, such as "No saying the letter R in any word. If a player breaks this, then he/she loses 50 points." Rules which fall into this category are limits on the speech and actions of players.

Options[]

These rules allow additional options to a person's turn, such as "At any time, you may discard your entire hand, draw 5 cards, and end your turn." Cards which are included here are any optional actions which may happen during a turn.
